Meet The Maker

Hi my name is Alysha and I am the owner, operator and maker of Meadow Wick Candle Co.

I have always loved vintage. The idea of combining the old and the new is something that I have always loved. Growing up my Mother had her grandmothers teacup collection proudly displayed in her china cabinet. Occasionally and quite frequently we would get them out and have tea parties using her beloved tea cups. I remember my Mom saying she used them with her grandmother as a little girl. To me that was so special, sharing a memory with my mom that she also shared with her grandmother using the same teacups.

As I had gotten older I couldn't help but realize how much glassware we put away and save to use on a 'special occasion'. I realized it even more as I would frequent the thrift stores and vintage/antique stores. Everyone's memories sitting on the shelves or being thrown away in the dumpster because there is so much of it, and no one uses it or even values it anymore.

Why are we throwing these beautiful pieces away? Why are we opting to buy mass manufactured and made in china home décor when there are so many beautiful options already sitting in thrift stores and vintage stores? This is when I had the idea to fill these beautiful vessels with a candle. My generation loves candles, but a candle in a different container than a jar is even more appealing. (in my humble opinion)

I hope this way people slowly start to introduce beautiful vintage glassware back into their lives. A candle is a gift and functional décor piece that people love to receive. And after the candle is done you simply wash it and find a new use for it. We don't have to save them for a special occasion, we can use them everyday and give them a second life.

I truly enjoy curating all of the vessels that I sell and selecting the scents for them. I enjoy making a clean burning candle that is safe for you to breathe in.

This business is a creative outlet for me and I get so much enjoyment when it sparks memories for people when they find my candles. Scents invoke memories, but I know that vintage glassware does too. I love bringing these pieces back to life and giving them a second life.

If you read all of this thank you. Thank you for following and supporting my business. I truly wouldn't be able to do this without all of you. Thank you for choosing sustainable and supporting small, it does not go unnoticed.

FAQ

What are your candles made of?

Our candles are made of 100% soy wax, and phthalate and paraben free fragrance oil. They also include lead free cotton wicks that ensure you get a clean burn every time.

Why are all of your candles different prices?

Due to the nature of collecting and reusing Vintage Vessels, our candles will vary in size and price. We also factor in the uniqueness, rarity and condition of the vessel. Some of them truly are valuable pieces and we try to price them accordingly.

Why vintage vessels?

We have always had a passion for vintage decor, and we believe it adds an element of comfort and style in your home. Vintage Vessels hold such a uniqueness that candle jars just cannot offer. Not only are they beautiful, but by scavenging the thrift store shelves we are giving forgotten vessels a second life.
